Welcome to Italy and the 2025 Ultimate Giro d’Italia 10 Day Tour!
General Tour Informaton:
We’re pleased to present your tour program for the 2025 Giro d’Italia, many thanks again for bearing with us while we’ve brought everything together. We’re very happy with the way the tour program, itinerary has come together on and off the bike to suit the 2025 Giro d‘Italia route.
Each edition of our Ultimate Giro d’Italia tours is vastly different from previous editions, to suit each new race parcour. Below in our “Version Two Itinerary” we’ve outlined our program, and itinerary to suit the current information we have from the Giro d’Italia race organisation.
We supply this information to assist you in confirming your travel plans, and to shine a light on the version two details for your Italian adventure and Giro d’Italia tour.
We’re pleased to confirm our tour start point will be in the Venice region of Italy. Venice and the surrounding areas are a beautiful part of Italy and are well connected with an International Airport and Fast Train services.
Our “Version Two Itinerary” is based on the current information supplied to us from the race organisation. As all the final detailed information continues to come in from the race organisation, [often as late as two weeks prior to our tour start],
we continually update our program and timelines to suit the detailed timelines of the daily race program. We continually monitor all the race information, to ensure efficiency, flexibility, and choices and to maximise your overall experience, including rides, non-cycling programs, and race interactions take in the best of Italy and the Giro d’Italia.
Next steps from here, we supply your “Final Itinerary” along with the detailed electronic ride routes, two weeks prior to your tour.
The Venice region is a wonderful start location for our 10 Day Ultimate Giro d’Italia Tour. If your schedule allows, we highly encourage everyone to arrive to Venice a day or two early and explore Venice islands and it’s surrounds
Venice islands are truly an incredible place, plus you’ll also be well rested from your travel and better acclimatised to any time zone changes you may encounter.
Venice International Airport, and Venice Mestre train station are well connected in Italy by a regional and inter Italy fast train network. We always recommend arriving to our tour start region, or the country in which your tour starts at least the day prior to your tour start.
In our years of experience, we have observed that guests who arrive on Day 0 and prior are better able to respond to potential travel disruptions like fight delays, missed connections and or delayed luggage. In general, guests are better rested, less stressed, less likely to get sick while on tour, much happier and ready for their adventure than those who arrive on Day 1.
*NB. Tomorrow Day 1 of your tour, we transfer directly from our designated pick-up points to Treviso for the day Giro d’Italia stage start (40-minute transfer) and then onto the Monte Grappa region (1 hour transfer) and our Team Hotel.

Our Suggestions for Venice
There are many wonders and highlights of Venice, each person will likely have must-see things to do and see in Venice. We suggest a free roaming program using the Vaporeto [foatng bus – ferry system] to explore a loop of the islands from the water, it’s a hop on hop of type system when you buy a pass for an extended period.
The Vaporeto is a great way to reduce some of the walkings you will do, and a lovely way to take in the sights of Venice, we also recommend heading over to the renowned island of Murano, home of the famous glass making artists.
We suggest: Walking from the train station area and crossing the bridge over the Grand Canal, head in the direction of the Ponte di Rialto, it’s an ornate bridge over the Grand Canal and worth a visit enroute to the impressive Piazza San Marco.
Take a brief Segway on the waterfront near Piazza San Marco to the Ponte della Paglia where you can view the Bridge of Sighs, so named from the sound the prisoners made as they walked from Palazzo Ducale to prison.
If time permits take a traditional gondola ride on the small canals of Venice, it’s a lovely way to see the smaller waterways and beautiful architecture.

Option 1: 35km / 310m:

This route follows Option 1 for the first 15km, we then continue eastward tll the village of Maser where the climb to Monte San Giorgio (3km at 7%) starts. The route then reconnects with Opton 1 route in the village of Asolo. From Asolo it’s 18km of undulatng roads to return to our hotel.
Suggested post-ride rehydration A glass of white wine.
One of the most popular Italian white wine types is Soave, a DOC wine made from Garganega grapes grown in hillside vineyards surrounding the romantic city of Verona, Veneto.
Soave is a dry and crisp white wine with fruity and floral notes. Typical favours include melon, white peach, orange zest and jasmine, with subtle notes of almond and dried herbs. Its high natural acidity makes Soave one of the best Italian wines to pair with many different foods, including shellfish, pork, chicken, cured meats, risottos, vegetables and spicy Asian dishes.
The Soave DOC wine-growing area has grown massively over its history. This led to the creation of Soave Superiore DOCG to distinguish the highest quality white wines from the region. You’ll also find Soave Classico, which refers to wines produced in the original hillside vineyards. Lastly, Recioto di Soave DOCG is a sweet Italian wine also produced in the region.
What to bring
Pack a daypack for easy access in our support vehicles with any specific hydration and nutrition you need, a towel, change of bike clothes, shoes etc for after your ride. Pack additional cycling clothing, warmer type kit and warm layers to put in the vehicle. We’ll discuss the weather forecast each evening and over breakfast, prior to departing our hotel each day so you can be well prepared.

Non-cycling options
Our last day in the quiet outskirts of Veneto before heading towards the Alps tomorrow. Join our vehicle and witness the excitement of a Giro Mountain stage. We’ll find the best spot where to cheer and support our riders on the way to Monte Grappa.
Alternatively, you can enjoy a quiet morning exploring our wonderful town, strolling in the city alleys or relaxing in one of the picturesque cofee shops, or cafes of Bassano.
You’ll have plenty of time to connect with many of the cycling groups who’ve returned. We then head out in the early afternoon in our vehicle 4km from our hotel to find the perfect spot to see the passing of the Giro peloton at the base of Monte Grappa.
Our Ride Distances: 39km – 43km – 58km
Climbing: 465m – 1185m – 1710m
(*Optional ride extras are available today, ask us how. Dream big – can you do 2 x Monte Grappa climbs as per the 2024 race did!)
Prior to the Giro d’Italia arriving today we will have a clear run on today’s racecourse and cycle the iconic Monte Grappa climb ahead of the race’s arrival, and no doubt leaving everything out on the road for the pilgrimage to the top of this famous climb.
Today’s rides may appear shorter in distance at first glance, yet the climbing vertical meters should be carefully considered, there are few chances for respite. Today’s climb will give you a great indication of how you are going in the mountains, save plenty of energy for the other climbs planned for the balance of the tour.
We can assure you the Monte Grappa climb will be a beautiful introduction to the 2025 Giro d’Italia climbs. The average gradient for Monte Grappa hides some tough ramps and sections in the climb, it’s a beautiful day on the bike, and a wonderful experience to ride on the racecourse ahead of the race arrival.
We encourage everyone to ride the Monte Grappa climb today, or part of the climb that suits the amount of climbing you like to do, it’s a wonderful experience to ride this famous Giro d’Italia climb, on race day for yourselves, the assembling fans will inspire you onward and upward.
As we will be riding on the racecourse we need to keep an eye on timing, making sure we won’t be caught by the sponsors’ caravan and the peloton. After a Picture from the top we can make our way back from another route, or if conditions are fine and sunny stay on the Monte Grappa’s slopes waiting for the race to arrive and pass by.
Details of Today’s Monte Grappa Climb:
From the southwest approach we ride today, from the village of Romano d’Ezzelino the climb is 26km – 1585m of climbing, max gradient 13%, at a manageable average of 6%.
*Please take care, and ride slowly down the descent today, the road will be busy with race traffic, and riders coming up. Today is definitely not the day to challenge your top speeds, or to infuse bravery points. Italian traffic moves differently than you are likely used to, vehicles will constantly be on the wrong side of the road coming up as they navigate past cyclists riding up – as you descend.
We ride to the base of the Monte Grappa climb together to warm up as a group, once on the climb proper riders can then ride the climb at the pace in which they are comfortable at, your Ride International staff will be there to support you.
Monte Grappa elevaton profle
Option #1: 39km – 465m – at the footsteps of Monte Grappa.
This option is for riders that are looking for an easier ride option today. After we leave from our hotel we go eastward to intercept the Giro racecourse in Paderno del Grappa, from there on we follow the course all the way to the beginning of Monte Grappa climb. This option gives you the opportunity to ride and experience part of today’s Giro route before heading back to the village of our hotel to Bassano del Grappa to relax, spend some time of the bike exploring our town. Later in the afternoon we’ll remount our bikes in civilian attire and cycle the 4km to the village of Romano d’Ezzelino at the base of the climb. Once in Romano d’Ezzelino we can position ourselves to see the race at the entry to Monte Grappa.
Option #2: 43km – 1185m – Monte Grappa Medium loop.
Depart from our hotel and ride the medium loop of Monte Grappa, you’ll ride 13km of the climb on today’s race route and traverse across the midpoint road to intercept the descent back to Bassano del Grappa, outside the racecourse.
Monte Grappa Medium Climb: 13km – 5.5% average.
Opton #3: 58km – 1710m – Monte Grappa Full loop.
Depart from the hotel and ride the full Giro d’Italia loop of Monte Grappa, it’s a special day on the bike.
The Monte Grappa climb from Romano d’Ezzelino measures 26km at 6% avg. The average might be misleading though since the climb can be divided in two sections that are separated by a fat area mid-way through to the top.
This is the ultimate spring/summer drink in Italy. Aperol is an Italian apéritf made of gentian (an alpine flower), cinchona (whose bark is famous for producing quinine) and rhubarb, among other ingredients. It’s mixed with Prosecco, a splash of sparkling water and served on ice – often with a slice of orange.
What to bring

We’ll discuss the weather forecast each evening and over breakfast, prior to departing our hotel each day so you can be well prepared.

More about our day
Passo Stelvio
This morning is a day many of you will have been dreaming of for much of your adult life, the ride to the summit of the Passo Stelvio is a pilgrimage well worth the effort.
The journey toward the summit at this time of year is beautiful, you’ll experience the Stelvio National Park in its raw, remote, wild state.
We will be away from the hotel on the bikes early. Hopefully, you have something left in your legs after yesterday! We are off to climb the Stelvio, one of the highest climbs in Europe. Bordering Switzerland at an elevation of 2,757m above sea level it is the highest paved mountain pass in the Eastern Alps, and the second highest in the Alps, 13 m below France’s Col d’Iseran (2,770 m). There is no better example of a day where the phrase “Prepare for the Worst –& Expect the Best!” needs to be front of mind. Today we plan to go high into the Italian Alps to the summit of Passo Stelvio at 2757m very early in the Spring cycling season. Individually everyone cycling needs to be well prepared for extreme alpine weather.
Cycling the Stelvio climb can be a tricky day at this time of the year, weather conditions can be vastly different at our hotel in Bormio in the valley, from what you may experience at the summit. Conditions can range from nice sunny Spring weather to blizzard conditions and everything in between. Ofen the road is still closed to general vehicle traffic, which means we may or may not be able to have a support vehicle to carry your day packs with additional clothing, it’s best to plan to be selfsufcient, then anything else is a bonus. We won’t know if the road is “officially” open, until we arrive in the town of Bormio as snow clearing is often still in progress in late May, we’ll know more closer to our arrival time.
Hence, it’s best each individual is well prepared and plan to carry their warm layers of clothing in a lightweight backpack and or handlebar bag. There’s generally no need to overdress for the ride up the Stelvio, hence we say ride with a backpack. We appreciate this is not normal when road cycling yet today is a special day and you need to be well prepared for extreme alpine conditions, as always though when climbing you’ll stay warm while you are moving, and all your warm layers are best to be dry in your pack.
Often temperatures of below zero degrees Celsius are normal at the top the Passo Stelvio at this time of year. As soon as you arrive to the summit it’s best to remove your moisture-filled jersey and put on all your warm, dry layers of clothing on, wet moisture flled layers are best in your bag for the 22km descent.
Plan to have all your skin covered with clothing, including a warm hat, arm-leg warmers, inner and outer gloves and possibly multiple layers for your top [i.e., a thin rain jacket isn’t enough]. It’s a long continuous descent from the summit and often at reduced speed to cater for the wet conditions of the road from the snow melt, you’ll wear all your clothing – think Alpine skiing conditions, only you’ll be on a bike.
Cycling up the Passo Stelvio in Spring is a really enjoyable experience, we love riding it at this time of year, it’s one of our favourite rides at the Giro d’Italia, you’ll enjoy cycling in one of the world’s great Alpine National Parks. We talk about it here in some detail so that you can be well prepared with your equipment, and cycling kit, you’ll then be comfortable and confident no matter what the day and weather brings. Again, your staff will be with you to support, encourage and advise you on the conditions the evening and morning prior to setting of for your day on the Passo Stelvio.
Non-cycling options
Plenty of options again this morning depending on your interests. Options include taking a relaxing morning at the hotel – visit Bormio’s wonderful thermal spa centre, explore the old centre of Bormio with a Gelato in hand – or if the road is open to traffic take a trip up the Stelvio and into the Stelvio National Park, yet in the comfort of our vehicle stopping to offer some sustenance – encouragement to our riders.
Enroute to the summit be on the lookout for the cheeky marmots in the higher plain grass areas, take a selfie in front of the Passo Stelvio sign at the top, enjoy a hot chocolate and a spot of gif shopping from the Chalets at the top of the Stelvio if the weather is warm and nice.
Or If you’d like some suggestions for more active, walks, runs, hikes etc we can make some suggested routes along the river valley paths, for exploring our beautiful Alpine area.
Our Ride Distances: 25km| 35km | 45km
Climbing: 600m |950m | 1600m
*Optional Extras are available again today, should you fancy some more riding, or climbing in your day.
This morning we will be away from the hotel early to climb the Stelvio, one of the most well-known cycling roads in the world and one of the highest climbs in Europe.
Ride Opton #1: Passo Stelvio 45km – 1600m
The Passo dello Stelvio ascent is 21.5 km long. Over this distance, you climb 1533 metres at an average of 7.1%. It’s not the hardest climb you will ever do, but its landscapes are beautiful and relentless, bearing in mind it gets steep for the last 5 km’s, you start the climb at 1200m above sea level.
You’ll be riding into thin air and riding through the iconic walls of snow on the sides of the road near the top of the pass, they’ll likely be clearing the road of snow, it’s a very special day – ride, no matter how many times you ride the Stelvio, hence why we rate it as one of our favourite climbs in the world, it’s beautiful.
Once at the top you’ll have time for a selfie in front of the Passo Stelvio sign, then put on your warm layers for the descent. Everything that goes up must come down and it is the same for us as we descend back to Bormio, carefully make your way down this beautiful road, and please ride safely and to the conditions, it’s definitely not a day to extend yourself on the descent, or to try to reach your maximum speeds, save that for when you’re on home roads.
3km down from the summit of the Passo Stelvio you may like to take a short 250m side trip to the Swiss Border – It also marks the top of the Swiss side of the Stelvio – The Umbrail Pass, it’s worth the slight Segway to venture across the border into Swiss territory.
Back on the Stelvio decent, pause off to take it all in, enjoy this amazing place as there are some incredible uninterrupted vista’s, landscapes, and photos to be had of the hairpin turns, in this unique remote area. We encourage everyone to not “race” or ride fast down the descent, and to ride cautiously, and really absorb its beauty, you won’t see anything else like it in Italy.
*Once back in Bormio from the Stelvio, we’ll set up a poll on WhatsApp, please reply to the poll to let the staff know via our WhatsApp group that you are safely back in Bormio or at our hotel.
Below are our suggestions for optional extra rides for the day, choose 1 or do both, the day is yours to enjoy, yet we suggest keeping a little something in the tank for tomorrow’s ride.
Optonal Extras #1: 35km | 950m climbing
If you are feeling good, and keen for more cycling this afternoon is a great chance to ride some more. From our hotel we have a nice ride planned to the Torre Fraele [self-guided to suit your pace, we’ll point you in the direction to the base of the climb] you’ll be comfortable using your GPS navigation device or Ride with GPS App to head back out on the road towards the Stelvio, then veer off to the left towards the Climb to the Torre Fraele [mini Stelvio].
From the hotel, it’s a beautiful climb of about 15km with incredible switchbacks leading up to an old fort. From the summit the views down over the valley toward Bormio and the unique road you just cycled up are amazing. From the top of the climb, it’s a lovely descent back down to Bormio, on the same road you cycled up on, so navigation is good – straight-forward.
Again, if you fancy optional – optional extra’s today, talk with us on the day, we always have plenty more wonderful climbs in this spectacular part of the Italian Alps.
Optional Extra’s #2: Forte di Oga 25km – 600m
If you have restless legs that need some extra climbing, we offer another small but beautiful climb towards Forte di Oga:
The ascent to the fortress, built between 1908 and 1914 to defend the important Alpine route, starts in Santa Lucia, just outside the town, of Bormio where you turn right of the main road to climb steeply through the first 3 hairpin bends in quick succession. Followed by a wide road up the valley slope with fantastic panoramic views of Bormio and its four valleys.
The route then turns left to cycle through the upper residential area of the village of Oga in a few hairpin bends and ends at the Albergo al Forte, (coffee stop), right at the entrance to the fortress and museum.
A mini celebration is in order after a day on the Stelvio. Italy’s generally celebrates special occasions with a toast of their famous sparkling wine. Prosecco is the perfect tonic, this delicious Italian sparkling white wine is scientifically proven to improve your conversational skills and improve oxygen levels back to your muscles, one glass and your legs will feel great again. Prosecco is the Italian version of Champagne.
What to bring
Pack any specifc hydraton and nutriton you need, pack additonal cycling clothing, warmer type kit and warm layers to put on, even on a nice day in spring it’s going to be chilly at the top regardless of the conditons in Bormio.
We’ll talk about the weather forecast at breakfast, prior to departing our hotel so you can be well prepared.
About the race
A very tough stage with the greatest elevation gain of the Giro (almost 5000 m), certainly one of the decisive ones for the final classification. After the start from Villa Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta, the route enters Trentno through the Val d’Astco via the Fricca Pass, from where there will be no respite, linking a sequence of climbs and descents, including La Fricca, Candriai (the first half of Bondone), Vigo Cavedine, the extremely tough Santa Barbara (or Monte Velo), and the final climb to San Valentino from Brentonico.

More about our day
We will leave our hotel in Bormio soon after breakfast, and drive down to the small town of Tirano in the Valtellina valley. Tirano lies at the base of the impressive Italian Alps, at the intersection of the mountain valleys. The start point for our rides and the Bernina Express commences from this natural border region between Switzerland, and Italy.
Once in Tirano, our Non-Cycling group have the option to take one of the world’s great train journeys into the Swiss Alps on the Bernina Express scenic railway or alternatively enjoy a day exploring the natural wonders in Bormio, it’s thermal spas all before seeing the Giro race finish live in our hotel town.
Our cycling groups depart from Tirano on the bike, we will head up the valley to the town of Mazzo where we will begin the climb of the famous Passo Mortrolo.
The race is coming from the other side of the Mortrolo pass this year. The Passo Mortrolo is considered to be one of the toughest climbs in Italy, and many professionals consider it as one of most difficult mountains to be climbed in any of the three Grand tours.
Lucho Herrera (1991) referred to the Mortrolo as being the “Queen climb of Europe”, and Lance Armstrong referred to it as the hardest climb he’d ever raced up. Today is your chance to add your name to the list of people who have climbed it.
The Mortrolo doesn’t conclude our day. After the Mortrollo we head up the river valley making our way back to our hotel in Bormio, either by bike or in our vehicles, here we’ll be able to watch today’s Giro stage fnish.
Non-cycling options
Today we have two great options, which also makes a great day for riders to take a day off the bike and freshen up the legs.
Option 1 is The Bernina Express Train Day Trip, Tirano to St Moritz and return, [tckets are purchased in the morning at the station, non-inclusion] or
Option 2 enjoy an easy day in Bormio before the race arrival. This option includes taking a relaxing visit to Bormio’s wonderful thermal spa centre, exploring the old centre of Bormio village with a Gelato in hand – take the Gondola up to Bormio 3000 for a stunning view of the surrounds, the gondola – chairlift is located right next to our hotel.
*4.30pm: See the Giro d’Italia.
Late in the afternoon head out from our hotel, wander into town to watch the Giro d’Italia stage finish in Bormio.
More about The Bernina Express Railway:
(tickets are purchased from the station – an optional noninclusion)
The Bernina Express return train journey to St Moritz is one of the great train journeys in the world. Today’s experience is all about the train journey, visiting Switzerland and enjoying one of the most spectacular – less physical ways to cross the Alps, the route winds its way gently through splendid Alpine scenery.
On the highest railway across the Alps, the Bernina Express climbs up to glistening glaciers and blends alpine landscapes. The train from Tirano to St. Moritz negotiates some of the 55 tunnels, 196 bridges and inclines with ease. Once in St Moritz you’ll have a few hours to explore, and take some lunch –or Braulio- before catching the return train back down to Tirano.
Visitors can delight in the cultural and natural surroundings and enjoy the Alps at their most impressive. The railway line from Tirano – St Moritz has UNESCO World Heritage status. Thanks to modern carriages, you will enjoy views of the unspoilt Alpine panorama.
The Bernina Express departs Tirano around 10.00 am [Swiss Timing], and arrives in St Moritz at 12.30 pm. The return journey departs St Moritz at around 3 pm and arrives back in Tirano at 5.30 pm where we will collect you and drive up to our Hotel in Bormio.
Our Rides: 40km | 50km | 35km | 65km | 72km
Climbing: 950m |1190m | 1510m | 2150m | 2400m
Today we have a vast array of options to suit how you are feeling.
Our rides all start in Tirano from where we will follow the river valley up for a short 10km warm-up to Mazzo, here you can choose to continue up the Alpine valley to Bormio or turn right where we will begin the climb of the famous Passo Mortrolo.
Once we arrive [and turn around] at the top of the Passo Mortrolo, we are on today’s Giro d’Italia race route. We follow today’s Giro route all the way back up to our hotel to the village of Bormio.
Once your individual ride reaches Bormio, if time permits and if you’d still like to ride a little more, you can follow the final section of today’s race route going up to Le Mote before returning to Bormio to cross the finish line.
Ride Option 1:
40km – climbing 950m
Today’s 40km ride starts in Tirano, we skip the heavy climb up the Passo Mortrolo, instead we continue on up the river valley on a designated bikeway from our start point in Tirano, we ride up the scenic – lush river valley to the beautiful alpine town of Bormio and onto our Hotel.
It’s a lovely ride up to Bormio, we follow the Alpine river valley up. We will arrive to Bormio in tme to see the Giro d’Italia finish nearby our hotel, a short walk from our centrally based hotel.
Ride Option 2:
50km – climbing 1190m
In addition to Option 1 you can decide to add the last 12km of today’s stage going up to Le Mote. It’s a short but punchy 3,5km climb, with it’s 7.7% average it will surely be a challenge for the peloton, and for us, before getting to Bormio.
Ride Options 2 & 3 :
35km – 60km Climbing 1510m – 2150m
The 35km and 60km ride options both depart from Tirano along the river valley, we then head up the Passo Mortrolo.
Starting from Mazzo, the Mortrolo climb is 12.4 km long. Over this distance, you climb 1300 metres in altitude with an average percentage of 10.5% and a maximum of 18%, yes, it’s steep.
We descend the Mortrolo via a less steep route and refuel ourselves in the village of Grosio, this marks the end station of the 35km ride, you’ll transfer up the valley in our vehicle to our hotel in Bormio.
65 km-ride: From the base of the Mortrolo the next challenge is thrown in front of us, as the valley up to Bormio is known for its late afternoon winds that make their way down out of the higher Alpine peaks, hopefully we have nice conditions on the day.
From the Village of Grosio it’s an additional 25km, 650m climbing up the valley to our hotel in Bormio, it’s a scenic ride and a nice way to acclimatise to the Alpine environment.
Ride option 4:
72km – climbing 2400m
If the Mortrolo isn’t enough for you this option offers some extra kms including the final part of today’s stage going up to the village of Le Mote. It’s a great way to experience some more time on racecourse and take advantage of the energy of the supporters.
Suggested post-ride rehydration
Aperitvo – Hugo
The Hugo is a refreshing Italian cocktail from South Tyrol, made with prosecco, elderflower syrup, soda water, fresh mint, and lime. After the race starts, we board our vehicles to jump ahead of the race for tomorrow’s big Aosta Valley stage, which includes our Queen stage rides. This afternoon we transfer to the Piedmont region in the mountainous north-west Alps of Italy.
Non-cycling options
This morning, we transferred from our hotel to Morbegno where today’s Giro d’Italia stage starts. On the way there we stop in Tirano where we drop the riders cycling the medium option, it’s a chance to take advantage of this time to explore this beautiful village of the Valtellina Valley.
Our Ride Distance: 54km | 94 km
Climbing: 270m | 420m
Today’s rides are all about the Sentero Valtellina. The Sentero Valtellina is a cycling route running at the bottom of the Valtellina valley that connects sections of bike paths and secondary roads. It’s a great way to avoid traffic and enjoy the mountains’ view all around us. You can decide to ride from the hotel or skip the first part and start your ride from Tirano.
Ride option 1:
54km – climbing 270m
After a 45 minutes transfer from our hotel in Bormio we reach Tirano. From here the route follows the Sentero Valtellina all the way to Morbegno. This is the perfect option if you want to have a bit easier day, save your legs for tomorrows big mountains, and spend some more time to spend in Morbegno before the race starts.
Ride option 2:
94km – climbing 420m
This ride starts from the hotel in Bormio and descends the Valtellina Valley following the Sentero Valtellina bike route. Despite being a pretty fat route we have to take in the overall time to reach Morbegno in good time to see the race start. The ride will be a brisk tempo ride, in order to arrive in Morbegno with plenty of time to enjoy the start of today’s Giro stage.
Not to be mistaken with the Monte Grappa. Monte Grappa, featured in our program earlier in the week in the Veneto region. It is not directly linked to the drink Grappa, which is a popular Italian digest made from grape pomace. However, the mountain and the drink share a common origin in the Veneto region of Italy. The name “grappa” is derived from the Italian word “grappolo”, which means “bunch of grapes”. The drink is made from the leftover grapes used for making wine. Official Grappa can only be produced in Italy, and the Italian-speaking parts of Switzerland and the Republic of San Marino.
What to bring
Pack a daypack for easy access in our support vehicles with any specific hydration and nutrition you need, a towel, change of clothes, shoes etc for the rides. Apres ride, don’t do any unnecessary chamois time, pack your off-bike clothes so that you can change quickly post-ride.
Pack additional cycling clothing, warmer type kit and warm layers to put in the vehicle. We’ll discuss the weather forecast each evening and over breakfast, prior to departing our hotel so you can be well prepared.
About the race
A few words of the organisation
A “quiet” stage likely to feature a final sprint, the last before Rome. After a fat start and the rideable climb of Colle Balisio, riders will tackle some must-do climbs for amateurs in the area north of Milan, such as Colle Brianza (summit at Ravellino) and Sirtori. The last 50 km are perfectly fat, with a fast final circuit of 12.5 km to be covered twice
Tonight’s Soiree
Tonight, we enjoy a group dinner with regional Piedmontspecialtes. We’ll meet in the hotel lobby Bar at 7.15 pm.
*Drinks to your personal room accounts, or pay at the bar as you go.

Once in Champolu,c we return via the same route [Giro race route] to Saint Vincent where we started. *Please ride carefully, and slowly on the way down, there will be a lot of riders and vehicles coming up the race route.
The town of Saint Vincent in the Aosta Valley is a strategic point on today’s stage, we see the peloton will pass through twice. A lovely reward and a great way to farewell the Alps.
Non-cycling options
This morning, we transfer from our hotel to Biella, in northern Italy’s Piedmont region, it’s known for its textile industry, stunning Alpine views, and historic sites like the Riceto di Candelo. Biella boasts rich culinary traditions, a vibrant cultural heritage, and a strong connection to craftsmanship and local traditions. Take advantage of exploring this town while we are here for the start of today’s Giro stage. After the stage starts, we transfer to Saint Vincent where we will see the peloton passing by two times today, here we’ll also connect with the cycling groups. Late today we see the Giro stage finish live on tv at a local bar, restaurant before heading back to Turin to our hotel.
Our Ride Distances:
Option A1 67 km – 1080m Climbing
Option B2 36 km – 480m
Option B3 70km – 1980m
*Plus Optional Extra’s: 45km – 1390m
This morning, we have many and varied rides for you divided in two different options: Opton A and Opton B.
We’ll have vehicles going in two different directions this morning, yet we’ll all rendezvous in the town of Saint Vincent, in the Aosta Valley throughout the day and watch the finish of the days Giro stage live on TV.
Option A ride takes in the early stages of today’s Giro race route and has some nice climbing in it. Option B rides are designed to either take in the middle of the stage, the fatter secton of the Aosta Valley, or the later part of the stage which includes some truly beautiful Alpine landscapes, paradise for those of you who love Alpine riding and climbing.
Option A: Ride 1
67km – climbing 1080m
This morning, we depart the hotel in our vehicle/s and transfer to Biella. Our ride starts in today’s Giro stage start town, yet we jump ahead of the race and commence riding straight away, so we can stay ahead of the chasing peloton.
From Biella our ride route starts and follows the racecourse for 50km. This first section of the stage includes the beautiful climb up to the small hamlet of Croce Serra starting 10km into the ride. Corso Serra is a 10km climb averaging 5%, once at the top we descend into the Aosta Valley and follow the racecourse to Verres before continuing to Saint Vincent. It’s important to stay ahead of the peloton to complete the ride, we’ll need to be efficient with our time at our ride start point in Biella.
Once in Saint Vincent we see the race twice, then watch the final climb to Champoluc live on TV.
Option B: Ride 2
36km – climbing 480m
We depart from our hotel in our vehicle/s, on the way to the town of Saint Vincent the vehicle will stop in Borgofranco d’Ivrea at the entrance of Aosta Valley. The first 25km of the ride are on racecourse, and the rest of the route makes its way gently into Saint Vincent following the Dora Baltea river. This option gives you the opportunity to experience once more riding on racecourse with the amazing surroundings of the Alps. Today you’ll ride on the Giro racecourse ahead of the race, once you arrive to the town of Saint Vincent, you have the opportunity to relax with a coffee, snack, Aperol Spritz, wine and dine, or continue on riding on today’s Giro stage. We’d suggest riding the “Optional Extra’s” – Col Saint Pantaleon loop
Option B: Ride 3
70km – climbing 1980m
We depart in our vehicle/s with the Option B: Ride 2 group. We continue in our vehicle up the Aosta Valley to start our rides from the town of Saint Vincent.
This morning, we ride the final climb of today’s stage going up to Champoluc ahead of the race, it’ll be a wonderful experience to ride in this beautiful area prior to the professionals arriving later today.
The climb to Champolouc is divided in two parts: the first one is the climb to Colle di Joux, 16km averaging 7%, the second one is the climb into Champolouc, 10km averaging 5%.
After a quick picture at the finish line in Champoluc today, we backtrack our route down the high mountain valley, On the way back the northern side of Colle di Joux is waiting for us with its 5km at 6,5% to get us back to the top of the pass before heading back down to Saint Vincent. *Again, please take care on this descent, ride safely and slowly, safety is always our number one priority.
Optonal Extra’s – Col Saint Pantaleon loop:
45km – climbing 1390m
Combine Ride Opton 3 and Today’s Optonal Extra’s and you’ve got a Giro Queens Stage Alpine Epic. Total Ride : 115km – 3300m climbing
If you are looking for one last epic challenge in the Alps this is the ride for you. Depending on the time once back from the Opton 3 ride, in Saint Vincent, there could be the possibility to ride a loop on another section and climb of todays’ Giro stage: Col Saint Pantaleon. It’s a 16,5km climb averaging 7,5% with some ramps going up to 12%. You’ll likely pause to let the Giro race pass on the slopes of Col Saint Pantaleon.
In Biella Menabrea beer is a renowned local brew with a history dating back to 1846. Crafted using pure Alpine water and carefully selected ingredients, it boasts a crisp, smooth taste. This premium lager represents Biella’s rich brewing tradition and is widely enjoyed across Italy.
What to bring
As we’re riding on the race route today, self-sufficiency is the key, as we won’t be able to have a support vehicle on course, we’ll pause for hydration, nutrition and coffee stops. A handlebar bag is perfect for these ride days, you can pack a jacket and ride snacks into your handlebar bag.
Pack a daypack for easy access in our vehicles with any specific hydration and nutrition you need, don’t do any unnecessary chamois time this morning, you can change quickly pre-ride. Pack additional cycling clothing, warmer type kit and warm layers to put in the vehicle for apres ride. We’ll discuss the weather forecast each evening and over breakfast, prior to departing our hotel so you can be well prepared.

The Magic of Rome
It is said that a city can also be described through its panorama, colours, perfumes, objects, or even an idea. It is precisely those nuances, intangible and temporary, that sometimes turn into unforgettable memories. Over the centuries, the magic of Rome has been masterly told by poets and writers and wonderfully depicted in the works of great artists. Eternal and mysterious, the Capital envelops those who arrive in a pleasant “sickness of Rome” that does not abandon. It is no coincidence that millions of tourists hurry to throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain with the hope of returning to visit it: because in Rome, remembering Goethe’s words, everything is as we imagined it, and everything is new. If you don’t know it yet, or if you want to return to immerse yourself in its charm, here, we try to briefly describe its profile, soul, and colours.
The seven hills and the birth of Rome (753 BC). Legend has it that the birth of Rome is due to Romulus and Remus, the twin sons of Rhea Silvia and the god Mars, abandoned and nursed by a She-wolf and finally adopted by the shepherd Faustolo and Acca Larenta, his wife. Once they grew up, the twins decided to found a city: to determine who should govern, they entrusted themselves to the will of the gods through the fight of augural birds. From the Aventne Hill, Remus saw six vultures, while Romulus, from the Palatine, sighted twelve, becoming the first King of Rome in 753 BC. From the Palatine Hill, the city would extend over the seven hills we all know: Palatine, Aventne, Campidoglio, Quirinale, Viminale, Esquilino and Celio.
Non-cycling options
The sky is the limit. Rome is one of the most mythical cities in the world. As the capital of an ancient empire, it is delightful to stroll from one highlight to the next.
We’ve organised a fun informal morning for the non-cycling group. We’ve arranged with our local colleagues in Rome for the non-cycling group to have a guided Golf Cart Tour at sunrise. We’ll see similar sights to the cycling group and connect at various points for group photos on our early morning Rome City Sights/ Highlights tour.
Our Ride Distance: 32km
Climbing: 400m
There’s no better way to fully appreciate Rome’s sights, it’s seven hills, superb viewpoints, world famous atractons and combine the Giro d’Italia, than to ride on the same roads as the race will follow a few hours later.
We’ll visit many of Rome’s iconic landmarks and pause for photos at various points.
*NB: Wear your Ride International Jersey this morning for group photos.
Suggested post-ride rehydration – Aperitvo
Double Espresso, Tonic water, Isotonic drinks – lots of it.
What to bring
Pack a camera, and a smile to celebrate the completion of your Italy, and Giro adventure.
About the race
A few words by the organisation
The final stage is divided into two parts: the first is the peloton’s outing to Lido di Castel Fusano on the Tyrrhenian Sea. It’s 16 kilometres one way and another 16 kilometres back before the stage enters its second and final part, the finishing circuit (8 laps) of 9.5 kilometres, which very much resembles last year’s lap through the eternal city. The circuit runs entirely along city streets (wide and sometimes with some traffic dividers) and alternates between short undulations and long straights linked by sometimes challenging bends. The road surface is mainly asphalt with a few short, cobbled sections (so-called sanpietrini). Last kilometres
The last kilometres feature some bends and a short climb. The final 350m straight is made of cobblestones and is 9m wide.
Tonight’s Soiree
Farewell dinner and drink at our hotel’s rooftop restaurant, tonight we’ve organised a special dinner to take place at our rooftop terrace. The views over the rooftops of Rome at sunset are a lovely backdrop, and a wonderful way to reminisce our time together on the 2025 Giro.
As always on our final dinners, we invite everyone to share their favourite memory of the tour, on or of the bike, it’s a beautiful way to hear individual favourites from your Giro of Italy.

About our day:
We will leave the hotel by bike or in the vehicle this morning depending on your ride choice, you’re in for an amazing day on the Sella Ronda Loop, you’ll ride in the heart of the jaw-droppingly beautiful Dolomite Mountains.
The Sella Ronda loop is an absolute classic cycling route, it’s famous around the world. We are happy to talk today up as it’s one of the best days / rides you can do. May is the best time of year to ride it as it’s quiet early in the cycling season.
The loop itself traverses four famous mountain passes through scenery that genuinely deserves the word ‘dramatic’ as the bulk of the Piz Boè looms above you.
These passes were the scene of some of the most famous battles in Italian cycling and at the Passo Pordoi there’s a monument to Fausto Coppi and another that commemorates the winners of the Cima Coppi (the first person over the highest point in each Giro d’Italia).
Please stop regularly, soak it up, enjoy and take lots of photos, it’s a day you will remember fondly for years to come.
After the Sella Ronda we will return to the hotel by bike or vehicle, a good soak at the local thermal spa could be a good option to recharge.
Non-cycling options:
Today you can choose to relax and unwind at the towns thermal spa, enjoy the beautiful spa and the immediate surrounds, or join the group and take a drive around the Sella Ronda Loop, we’ll pause at the top of the pass’s for photo’s, drink hot chocolate, pass out some snacks and plenty of encouragement to our riders. We’ll take a hearty Italian mountain lunch in one of the mountain top chalets.
From a bike or a vehicle, this is one of the most spectacular drives/place’s you’ll likely ever visit, bring your camera you’ll take lots of photo’s today.
or ask us for some options based on your personal interests, we have some great recommendations here in the Italian Dolomites.
We will leave the hotel by bike or in the vehicle this morning for an amazing day out on the Sella Ronda.
Our longer route of 95km will leave our Hotel on the bike and travel through Canazei where we will start our ascent of the Passo Pordoi. About halfway up the Passo Pordoi we turn right onto the Sella Ronda circuit. This is where our 55km Sella Ronda Loop group will start, the 55km route is a great option to ensure you achieve the Sella Ronda Loop first and foremost, you can always cycle back the additional 20km to the hotel after you’ve completed the loop if your energy levels are still good for a total of 75km.
The longer 95km ride will climb almost 2500m and the shorter ride will do about 1700m.
None of the climbs are particularly long or very steep and the total amount of climbing is quite manageable as it’s broken up into four stages, you have all day to complete the ride so you can take your time and break the ride up with multiple stops, you’ll be so distracted by the incredible scenery you’ll hardly notice you are climbing.
The four passes are:
• Passo Pordoi (2239m)
• Passo di Campolongo (1875m)
• Passo di Gardena (Grodnerjoch) (2121m)
• Passo di Sella (2213)
You’ll see we have included a double loop of the Sella Ronda as an option. It’s a great way for those that really want to clock up some big vertical meters to do the Sella loop in a anti-clockwise and then clockwise direction, then cycle back to the hotel. We’ll have dinner and a massive beer ready for your arrival at the hotel.

This morning we will be away from the hotel early. Hopefully, you have plenty left in your legs! We are off to climb the Stelvio, one of the highest climbs in Europe.
Bordering Switzerland at an elevation of 2,757 m (9,045 ft) above sea level it is the highest paved mountain pass in the Eastern Alps, and the second highest in the Alps, 13 m below France’s Col de l’Iseran (2,770 m).
This afternoon we will be one of the highlights of our Giro d’Italia tour, we get to see the Giro d’Italia on the Stelvio pass, we’ll have front row seats as we watch the race pass on either the Passo Stelvio or on the final climb to Laghi di Cancano.
When the race passes it’s sure to be spread out by many minutes with a likely break of opportunists, followed by the GC contenders and later by the grupetto of domestiques and sprinters who have either done their job or have no interest in riding full gas up the mountains!
Both today’s viewing locations are close to our Team Hotel in the Italian Alpes. It’s going to be an amazing day of riding and race watching, this incredibly tough Giro stage will see the race leader – perhaps race winner emerge from the GC contenders.

Our Ride:
Ride – starts 8:30am
This morning we will be away from the hotel early to climb the Passo Stelvio, one of the most iconic and beautiful cycling roads in the world, it’s one of the highest passes in Europe.
The Passo dello Stelvio ascent is 21.5 km long. Over this distance, you climb 1533 metres at an average of 7.1%. It’s not the hardest climb you will ever do, but it’s relentless. You’ll be riding into thin air and riding through the iconic walls of snow on the sides of the road near the top of the pass, it’s a special day on the bike.
You won’t be short of company on the ride up the Stelvio or at the top of the pass. The climb will be busy with cyclists and the hardy Italian Tifossi fans. It’s generally pretty chilly at the top of the Stevio in May, we’d suggest putting on some warm layers for the descent, a selfie in front of the Passo Stelvio sign then head down the mountain. If you plan to stay at the top to watch the race pass, it’s best to have plenty of warm clothing on hand.
Everything that goes up must come down and it is the same for us as we descend back to Bormio, carefully make your way down this beautiful road. 3km down from the top of the Stelvio you may like to take a short 250m side trip to the Swiss Border – It also marks the top of the Swiss side of the Stelvio – The Umbrail Pass.
Back on the Stelvio descent, pause often to take it all in, enjoy this amazing place as there are some incredible uninterrupted vista’s, landscapes and photos to be had in this unique remote area. we encourage everyone to not “race” down the descent and really absorb its beauty, you won’t see anything else like it in Italy.
If you feel like a few optional extra’s today after the Stelvio climb, you can head back out on the road towards the Stelvio, then onto the Climb to the Torre Fraele, it’s a beautiful climb of about 15km with incredible switchbacks leading up to an old fort. From the top the views down over the valley and the unique road you just cycled up are amazing. At the top of the climb is todays stage finish at Lago Cancano, after the stage finish around 5.30pm you can descend back down to Bormio and onto our Alps Team Hotel.

About our day:
A special day today, we depart our hotel either on the bike or travel along beautiful Lake Como by vehicle.
There are many places in the world that are considered to be spiritual home’s of cycling: the twenty-one hairpins of Alpe d’Huez, the pavé of the Arenberg Forest, and the Muur van Geraardsbergen among them. Nothing though, can really claim the spiritual tag like the small chapel/church that sits at the top of Madonna del Ghisallo climb.
Being an almost permanent fixture on the percorso of the Giro di Lombardia – as well as featuring regularly in the course of the Giro d’Italia – has kept the chapel in the forefront of the cycling world over the years and a collection of cycling memorabilia that would be the envy of any museum has accumulated inside.
The walls of the tiny chapel are almost covered in pennants of cycling clubs from all over the world, jerseys from champions of the recent and distant past, and most prominently, a selection of bikes that have made history.
Partly because the collection of cycling artefacts accumulated was becoming far too big for the small chapel, a purpose-built Museo di Ciclismo has been created nearby. In contrast to the traditional style of the chapel of the Madonna, the ultra-modern museum building is cut into the very side of the mountain itself – its massive plate glass windows affording breathtaking views of the Lombardia hills and the Lago di Lecco below.
